Solar Energy in Canada

Lets know more about Canada, Its Electricity Requirement, Generation and Consumption & Canada’s contribution towards Green Earth by using Solar Energy.

Canada

Canada is a country in the North America continent, It has ten provinces and three territories extending from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering over 9.98 million square kilometers (3.85 million square miles), making it the world’s second-largest country by total area. Its southern and western border with the United States, stretching 8,891 kilometers (5,525 mi), is the world’ longest binational land border. It is the world’s second-largest country by total area. Canada’s capital is Ottawa.

Canada’s total power generation-

Canada is one of the developed country in the world and it is a heavy consumer of electricity 632.2 terawatt hours in 2021 and its consumption is 522.20 bn kWh.

Total power generation by coal-

Coal is one of the major source of Energy, But its Limited , Formation of coal is very slow process, but Coal is efficiently use for Electricity Generation due to which maximum country facing black out due to shortage of Coal Energy, IN Canada 4.43 terawatt of electricity is generated with coal .Electricity generation consumed 26 Mt in 2018, and 49% decrease from 50.7 Mt in 2008,

Total power generation by hydroelectricity

Hydro Electricity is one of the remarkable revolution in the world, Where water stored in a big size dam, which use for the electricity generation. Hydro electricity project also use for multi purpose like Fishing, Irrigation also help to increase the ground water level. in Canada, February 2022 the largest single contributor to Canadian electricity generation (62.1% of total generation) 75,077MW

Total generation by nuclear

The largest power generating facility is the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station in Ontario and has an installed capacity of 85 Terawatt.

Total power generation by green energy

103GW generated by renewable energy and aim to have developed around 50GW of net renewable generating capacity globally by 2030.

Canada is set to install 2.2 Terawatt of new solar in 2022, bringing its total capacity to about 5 GW.
